چکیده

Wild birds have been identified as reservoirs of many pathogens transmissible to humans through bird-biting mosquitoes. Understanding the diversity vector fauna in bird-conservation areas, is a cornerstone later develop early detection systems and reduce risk emerging disease incidence. Prek Toal bird Sanctuary Tonle-Sap area Cambodia hosting largest migratory colony southeast Asia. The Culicidae was investigated during both dry rainy seasons. In total, 8,224 mosquitoes from 6 genera 25 species were collected. two most represented Anopheles (8 species) Culex (11 species), while dominant vishnui (58.8%). During season, 1.6 fold more caught number doubled. One notable feature absence any Aedinii mosquito which could be attributed low human density around area, large populations birds. A total 13 3 are reported medical importance. medically-important collected all sites, known bite wild humans: An. barbirostris, campestris, Cx. bitaeniorhynchus, vishnui, Ma. indiana uniformis. important over-abundance largely throughout seasons being present everywhere Cambodia. This finding stresses its potentiality act bridge vectors case new emergence.

Analyzing Mosquito (Diptera: Culicidae) Diversity in Pakistan by DNA Barcoding

BACKGROUND Although they are important disease vectors mosquito biodiversity in Pakistan is poorly known. Recent epidemics of dengue fever have revealed the need for more detailed understanding of the diversity and distributions of mosquito species in this region. DNA barcoding improves the accuracy of mosquito inventories because morphological differences between many species are subtle, leadi...

Toxic Response of Mosquito Culex Quinquefasciatus (Diptera: Culicidae) to some Agricultural Pesticides (Butachlor and Pertilachlor)

Background: The expansion of herbicide used in aquatic ecosystems as well as in terrestrial if is not properly controlled may produce harmful effects on freshwater fisheries. Residue limits of these agricultural chemicals in tropical fishery waters should be established. The aim of this study was to determine the acute toxicity of butachlor and pertilachlor as potential dangerous herbicides to ...

Species Diversity and Larval Habitat Characteristics of Mosquitoes (Diptera: Culicidae) in Golestan Province, 2016

Background & Objectives: Mosquitoes (Diptera: Culicidae) are medically considered as one of the most important species of insects in terms of disease transmission to human beings; hence, they can be vectors of remarkable diseases such as malaria, West Nile, dengue fever, yellow fever, and filariasis. This study aimed to determine the species diversity and larval habitat characteristics of mosqu...
